I'm not sure if I'm reviewing an kick-ass Star Trek movie experience, or a gorgeous golf course with a theater on it. In any case, loved this place. Somehow less expensive than watching anything in Tinseltown nearby, this theater wasn't too crowded on the opening weekend of Into The Darkness, the latest and greatest Star Trek movie prequel. The area had a bike show going on at the time which might make the place intolerable, but was so well organized and executed that it was great to see vintage bikes on the way to a movie. Not only was this movie offered in IMAX, but also 3-D for maximum sensory overload. Impossibly uncomfortable seating cost it one star, but everything else was so perfect that I'd probably brave an armrest elbowing battle to return anytime!

Just watched the hunger games, theater was nice and clean. But very disappointed in the seating. I would've thought the seating would be a little bit more comfortable, or at least rock back to look at the whole screen, but that's my only complaint.

If you don't feel like watching a long movie, come for a short one! Unfortunately, the WGV is not looking too hot these days. A lot of their shops have closed and the whole area needs a good pressure washing. BUT, the IMAX is still there and still awesome. I mean, who doesn't like watching a movie on an enormous screen!? I went with my boo to watch a short, 40 minute, Great White Shark documentary in 3D. They have a small concession stand with candies, popcorn and soda however; you can probably get away with bringing your own snacks as the IMAX is nothing like the strict, regular movie theaters. Since there isn't anything else to do down in those parts you could always check out the outlet mall before or after your movie to make the trip worthwhile.

It's kind of a shame it's not busier, its a nice theater. I went on a Sat afternoon and there were about 8 people watching the Van Gogh documentary, and maybe 20 people watching the Hubble Telescope doc. It was a little difficult to find within the World Golf Hall of Fame, had to do some walking looking for the place. I'm always getting lost, so this may not apply to everyone else. BTW the demographic in the theater when I went consisted of older (50+) white people

This is a great place to get the IMAX experience, but unlike other reviewers I don't think it's the best spot for "Blockbusters." The seating is right up front and a fast pace movie with this type of seating leaves you dizzy, ha. I watched several movies here outside of the typical educational fare and it is just not good for a "real," movie. It is excellent though for that "in the movie," feeling when watching the typical IMAX fare.

The toughest decision is whether to get an annual membership. It sucks waiting it the "regular" people line. The annual membership is $69 bucks... Which gets you into 4 blockbuster movies a year. Not bad at $13 a pop. Plus unlimited documentaries. The picture quality is digital... So it is amazing. The sound is unreal. It's very immersive. The theater is spotless and I enjoy walking around the World Golf Village grounds. It's $13 bucks to see an IMAX new release. They don't seem to mind if you bring in your own snacks or drinks. We saw Gravity with Sandra Bullock. The IMAX experience made they movie more memorable.

Eh?! Not impressed could've went five minutes to the regal. Seeing in 3-D, I'm not so sure what all the hype is, I mean it's in 3-D, it's a big screen. It is not that great you sit basically right in front of the screen and maybe that's why people think it's so good but even the sound wasn't that great. If you want the same experience just go to your local theater, pay for the movie in 3-D and then sit in the front row.

I love golf. I was club champ several times. I know the history of golf. I have played with U.S open champs, master champs, pga champs. The hall of fame was a major disappointment. A waste of 19.50. Tying it in with iMax is almost fraud. Not only will I not be back, I cancelled a golf trip here with my foursome and the wives. Proof the pudding the place was empty.

I love to watch films at the IMAX Theaters. And this spot is no exception. The only problem is that this particular theater shows very few blockbuster type movies. Showings are more geared toward IMAX specific films like underwater adventures, space exploration documentaries and the mating habits of the South African Newt. And while these films are gorgeous, .....I WANT TO SEE BIG BLOCKBUSTER flick's at this location!!!!! This IMAX is spotless as it seems there are not a lot of folks who visit this theater. But, when this location does show a movie like Batman, get there early or pre-purchase your tickets online because this place gets packed! Note: Parking for the IMAX is behind the PGA Tour Stop shop on the main road of World Golf Village. When you have parked you will take a little jaunt on the Walk of Champions to get to the theater. This isn't too bad unless it is raining as this walkway is not covered.

This theater is a true IMAX experience. The screen is very large and you're pretty close to it, so if the movie has a lot of fast, close cropped scenes it can be a little hard to watch. We usually try to sit in the back row (get there early for the Blockbusters) and it's great. They have started to bring many more major films to the theater and it's great to have so close to home. It is a little pricy, but worth it for the massive screen experience on the movies they bring in.

I had the good fortune to catch "The Dark Knight" (Batman II) here on opening day. Can't think of a better venue for watching a movie like that. Scenes where the camera panned over city skylines made you feel like you were gliding. I think the screen is 6 stories high and 80 feet wide. It's enormous and the stadium seating means no obstructed views. Caveat: Get there and in line early enough that you aren't stuck in the front row. We were. It didn't bother me too much, but I know it would've been better from higher rows. Some others in the front row actually got motion sickness or headaches. It's not easy to follow the fastest action scenes or tight close ups from that angle. Still, the theater itself takes movies to the next level. It's about a 20-30 minute drive from Jax, but for the right movie, that's worthwhile. Not sure how many blockbusters they show compared to IMAX movies like Everest. Either way, it's worth checking out. BONUS: No annoying commercials before the movie. Lights went down and the main feature came right up. I loved that.

Very nice place situated in a very nice Golf-themed area amidst shops and restaurants galore! We drove out to catch the Star Trek: Into Darkness flick for my Chica's birthday, and the experience was fine. The sound system was nice and loud with plenty of depth, balance and bass. The screen is huge. In fact, I think I heard the announcer say it was the largest in Florida, not sure. I only have two gripes. The seats aren't the most comfortable of theater seats on the planet, especially not with a sold out show, and they don't offer fountain sodas. Who doesn't want an ice cold $9 fountain soda when the go to the movies??? Seriously though, besides those two factors, it was a fine theater and experience. I also want to state that there was a massive bike show going on, and it had absolutely NO impact on our experience at the theater.

Listen, I love this theater. I really wanted to give it 5 stars. It's hardly ever crowded and the price is really good. The staff there is very friendly and easy going. If you join up with an annual membership, you get priority seating, but like I said above, it's usually not very crowded. They show really cool IMAX movies which are unlimited for members, and also theatrical Hollywood releases as well like Insurgent, Fast and Furious, and the upcoming Star Wars movie due out at Christmas. Very exciting. So Bleach, um... Why didn't you give 5 stars? You've said nothing but good things. Well... The seats are really hard on my butt. My butt goes to sleep even in the shorter 40 minute IMAX shows. The variety of movies could be better done too. How about 5 different IMAX shows a week and then show the theatrical movies a couple of times a day and on into the night? Maybe that would bring in more patrons. Oh, and the concession stand (Where most theaters make their money) is pretty scant. They don't even have fountain drinks or big popcorns. But hey, it's right next to Murray Brothers CaddyShack restaurant, so you can eat before or after the show. Sigh. Oh, and it's only a mile from Cino's Pizza where they have this awesome butter garlic crust. YUM! Overall, I recommend WGHF IMAX, but do like I do. Bring a pad for your butt. The nice people there don't seem to mind.

Clean facility, great for the entire family. The annual pass program is a good value if u like IMAX documentaries as they are unlimited! The screen is 3D and the sound quality is amazing. Good parking and close to nearby shopping and restaurants. They also show Hollywood movies as well.

We just saw the last part of The Hobbit. It was awesome and I was exhausted by the end of the movie. I'm not going to say anything else because we actually saw it one night before it was released to regular movie theaters. That's one of the benefits of being a power pass member of IMAX in St. Augustine. Watching any movie on this spectacular screen with this unbelievable sound system is such a treat that it makes the $64 yearly pass worth it. You can see four Hollywood movies and as many of the hour long documentaries as you'd like. It also allows you to play the putting green, all 18 holes. I can't tell you how much I love the IMAX theater at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine!
